The 2026 Application Windows

DPIIT typically opens its portal twice a year for bulk batches. Mark your calendar for this Sunday:

  • Summer Window (Batch 1): March 1 to April 30, 2026. (For internships starting June–August).

  • Winter Window (Batch 2): September 1 to October 31, 2026. (For internships starting November–January).

Pro-Tip: The portal often goes live at midnight on the 1st of the month. Early applicants usually get better visibility before the “maximum 20 interns per batch” cap is reached.

Stipend & Duration

Unlike many unpaid government roles, DPIIT respects your time:

  • Stipend: ₹10,000 per month.

  • Duration: Minimum 1 month, maximum 3 months.

  • Disbursement: You get the full amount after you submit your final research report at the end of the internship.

Who is Eligible (Commerce/Finance Focus)

Quick FAQ

  • Q: Can I apply if I’m in my 1st year of B.Com?

    • A: It’s rare. They prefer students who have completed at least 2 years of their degree so they have enough subject knowledge to contribute to policy research.

  • Q: Is it work-from-home?

    • A: No. You’ll be working at the DPIIT office in Udyog Bhawan, New Delhi. You’ll need to manage your own accommodation.
